Yoga is great. It is challenging. It can be slow and easy or not. I love the feeling of really well stretched hamstrings, open hips, being able to plant my hands on either side of my feet. I love the warmth. I love the way afterwards there is this amazing feeling of accomplishment. I love the idea of balance. Being able to balance, not falling down or swaying in a breeze only I can feel. And the balance that comes from stretching both sides of my unbalanced self.
Today I had another beginning. Today I taught yoga for the first time. WOW. Talk about challenging. Being responsible for others as they stretch. Helping them to stretch without hurting. It’s much more intimidating than I previously anticipated. Guiding the class. Remembering to stretch beginning postures before moving on to more involved postures. Remembering to breathe. Breathing isn’t a problem when one is prompted. However, when I am the one prompting, trying to remember when to inhale or exhale (this is much more complex than it sounds) all while trying to take enough oxygen myself…well it’s a challenge. A challenge I am willing and ready to meet. Yoga is challenging. It’s also great.
